Sometimes I read so fast that I miss things. With the advent of the hyperspace shunt, someone should have visited Home. How come I have never seen reference to Home being wiped out by plague (that would be a likely story for the protectors to send to Earth) or reference to protectors on Home (I have not read "Ringworld Engineers" yet and I understand that protectors have something to do with Ringworld). Many years later ("Known Space" time) I believe We Made It buys the hyperspace shunt from the Outsiders. The net result is that you have a planet full of childless protectors. After they arrive there, the virus spreads to all members of Home. It rotates, providing an artificial gravity equivalent to 99.2 of Earth's gravity by way of centrifugal force. Brennan infects Truesdale with the modified Tree-of-Life virus just before they get there. The Ringworld is an artificial ring about one million miles wide and approximately the diameter of Earth's orbit (which makes it about 600 million miles in circumference), encircling a Sol-type star. Author’s agent: Robert Barnett, Williams & Connolly. But readers will close the book confident that Abigail Adams herself would feel that these ladies are well remembered. Roberts’s disciplined concision-the major profiles run just five or six paragraphs, along with a smattering of single-paragraph nuggets-means that some stories feel rushed or missing a narrative arc. Together they celebrate the already beloved (Dolley Madison, Phillis Wheatley, and Deborah Sampson, who fought disguised as a man) and redeem a few figures from stereotype (who knew Martha Washington was such a dynamo?). Goode (the Louise the Big Cheese books) contributes quill-drawn portraits and historical vignettes, beautifully rendered in sepia tones and delicate watercolor washes reminiscent of images from journals and letters of the era. The women of the American Revolution get sprightly, affectionate tributes from Roberts, who covered this material for adults in 2004’s Founding Mothers: The Women Who Raised Our Nation. They wrote letters and literature, kept the home fires burning, ran the family farm, rallied support for the troops, and even fought alongside them. The recording doesn’t go well and ends in tragedy, simultaneously, across the Atlantic, John Lennon is murdered. The book opens in December 1980, a group of musicians, most of who are psychic as well as talented musicians, recording under the name ‘The Philosopher’s Stone’ are working overnight in a recording studio sited in an old abbey in rural Wales. ![]() Love lucy book april lindner5/10/2023 ![]() His university education was interrupted by World War I when he volunteered with the 65th Battery, as a lieutenant in the Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery.
